Helen Darbishire, Executive Director of Access Info Europe, participated in the High Level conference: “Engaging Citizens for Good Governance in Cohesion Policy”, organised by the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) of the European Commission.
The conference focused on how to ensure closer cooperation with citizens and civil society in the governance and implementation of Cohesion Policy and management of dedicated EU funds.
Under the panel “Open data and digital technology to engage citizens”, Helen Darbishire explained how Transparency of public decision making and spending of public funds enables governments’ accountability, contributes to empower citizens and advance for democracy.
